What should you expect in the area of speech sound development? The chart below is provided by the MO Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) regarding normative age aquisition for each sound. This is the criteria utilized to determine if your child qualifies for speech services.
SOUND ACQUISITION AGE CHART
Working with your child at home is important to language and sound development. Below are a few examples to try at home and I will try to provide more on an individualized basis. Continuous exposure to sound knowledge/sound play/reading activities does carry over to speech/language abilities.
